Admissions
Process
We are pleased to be a part of this important decision-making process
for you and your child. Enrollment at Alef-Bet is for the center's twelve
month calendar year. Children are also accepted as openings occur throughout
the year. The overview below describes the application and admissions
procedure.
Complete
the Application Form
Complete the application form (click here
to download) and return it to Alef-Bet with your application fee. The
application fee is $30 per child. You will receive a confirmation letter
of receipt of your application. Tuition Assistance is available as funds
permit. Please contact

Schedule
a Visit
You can call the center to schedule a visit if you have not already been
contacted by the Center Director. Visits are by appointment only. Allow
approximately one to one and one half hour (8:45 am - 10:15 am) to visit
the center. The Director will explain the program and respond to your
questions. You may bring your child, keeping in mind that you are responsible
for his/her supervision during your visit. He/she may join the children
for play and snack. Often a second visit is made, sometimes by the same
parent or a second parent to confirm that our program is appropriate for
your child and consistent with your values and educational philosophy.
You will also be asked to give a preliminary idea of the schedule you
foresee for your child.
Notification
of Acceptance
Siblings and members of Temple Beth Shalom have priority for admission
(see ALEF-BET Temple Beth Shalom Membership
Policy). Additionally, we seek an appropriate age and gender balance in
each class. Slots are offered first to those whose criteria and requested
schedule best meet center needs. After you have indicated your schedule
preference to the Director, you will be notified as to its availability
and/or your child's status regarding acceptance.
Enrollment
Upon notification of acceptance, you will be sent an enrollment confirmation
letter that will also indicate your child's schedule. If you would like
to enroll your child, you will be expected to send in an initial (non-refundable)
deposit of $400 to reserve that space. (This enrollment deposit is later
deducted from the first tuition payment.)
The Enrollment Contract is for the twelve month period, September through
August. If your child is starting at a non-standard time, you will determine
a start-date with the Director. Enrollment packets and contracts will
then be sent to you.
Waiting
List
If we do not have room for your child for the date you have requested,
we will place him/her on our waiting list. Children are enrolled for a
one-year term, most often from September through the end of August. While
most children stay for several years, sudden job changes and moves can
result in an unexpected opening during the enrollment year. Do call us
periodically to check you child's status on the wait list and regarding
any potential openings. We invite your continued interest in the program
and will notify you as soon as we are aware of an upcoming opening.
